2.TOUGH DEAL FOR THE UNEMPLOYED

Summary

The unemployed have a heavy psychological burden to bear. This can lead to them having feelings of low self-esteem and a feeling that they are worthless. Those who seek help from the Social Welfare Department (SWD) have to endure the complicated application procedure and the inhumane and harsh means test. The procedure to apply for assistance is not as easy as one would imagine. This puts the unemployed under great pressure. I do not believe that maintaining a policy of minimal government intervention will stem rising unemployment. The Government should make its "invisible" hand in the market become visible by, for example, creating more job opportunities for the unemployed; ensuring age and sex discrimination do not exist in the workplace, restraining employers from exploiting employees - in the way that some employers do by taking on casual staff and making them work long hours and, finally, bringing under control the "crazy" property speculation of capitalists.

Summary
They want to make their needs and desires known and to understand the world around them. Immersion programmes integrate language and content in an activity-based, child-centred manner so that the child is motivated to use the second language as a tool to transmit and receive messages related to social and academic interests. In addition the second language is modelled throughout the school, is encouraged and rewarded, and thus becomes the language of choice. It is not necessary to ''abandon'' Cantonese; an immersion programme should provide some daily instruction in the first language.

Wii

The Wii (pronounced as the pronoun we, IPA: [wiː]) is the fifth home video game console released by Nintendo. The console is the direct successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation , but it competes with both as part of the seventh generation of gaming systems.

A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions. Another is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.

Nintendo first mentioned the console at the 2004 E3 press conference and later unveiled the system at the 2005 E3. Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show. In the 2006 E3, the console won the first of several awards.By December 8, 2006, it completed its launch in four key markets.

In Internet English class, I created my first English Blog, and learned how to “design” it. I searched and referenced other people’s blogs and started to “design “my own blog. First, I used PhotoImpack to make my blog logo, then put it on the top of my blog. Second, because long articles always confused me, I used some “html code” to hide them. If you wanted to show up the article, you could click the bottom. Click the bottom again then the articles would disappear. Third, I added a song in my blog, The Phantom of the Opera, which is one of my favorite songs. Fourth, I added a movie trailer- Happy Feet, which was about a penguin, if you wanted to know more, search my web blog. Fifth, I made a table in my blog, the table made by FrontPage, then I copied the “html code” and pasted the code on my blog. Sixth, I used Macromedia Flash to make an album, and I also searched the “html code” of flash. Seventh, I pasted a video, which was NG video of homework for Business Venture class, it was funny. Eighth, I added a calendar, which showed days, months and time. Ninth, I added an active picture, which would follow the pointer, the rabbit could dance. Tenth, I added a music box. There are many songs that you could choose by yourself. Finally, I added some moving text, which was on the top and bottom of the window.

The two activities (chat room and English blog) helped me learned English. Homework was not just paper works, now blog let them be active and colorful, not just a boring work any more. In trandtional class, we set and faced to the teacher, how boring!! But in Interenet English class, it’s different. We used computer in the class. Using web blog to submit homework was a different feeling which made me want to concentrate on my homework. The most difficult part to create a blog was to “design” my own blog. I had to surf the web and find the suitable “html code” then copy them. Then I had to test it again and again. And that could be the wrong URL or wrong html code of the place I pasted. Most of time, I succeed. I really learned lots of thing in this class, not just the book from our teacher, also the computer skills.

After seeing my classmates’ final projece, I think they all did an excellent job. Someone added games, their idol’s songs, and E-pet on their own blog. It’s interesting. But it’s pity about the time, so that I can’t admire their blogs. Maybe we will have chances to admire their works the next semester. It’s really a wonderful class. ” I’m loven’ it.”

When I was a junior high school student, the first chat room I entered was a wonderful place, where I could make a lot of friends. I used to have a friend, whom I met from chat room. First, we introduced each other (Name, age, home, school and habit). Second, we changed our E-mail, guest book, even cell phone number. Third, we arranged a meeting. This time, not from computer screen, it’s face to face. Of course, the three steps couldn’t be finished in one day, the steps may go on for three weeks. She’s a nice girl, a senior high school student. She’s about three years older than me, but she helped me so much. If I had any questions from my homework, she would help and teach me. Because we were all students, she and I had to take a big test, which was an entrance examination for a better school. I took it to enter senior high school while she wanted to go to the university. We didn’t have much time to keep in tough since we all had to prepare for the big test. Gradually, I lost news about her.

Chat room is a virtual space, I also met some liars. He would tell you some wrong information about him. Some guys might ask you some personal questions, for example three measurements of a woman figure or ask you about sex. This place is also a terrible place, you have to be careful. Our teacher Emma, asked each group to enter a chat room, and each member had to “talk” in English. It was a special experience, which we hadn’t done this before. We all worried about that, we didn’t know how to start it. We also didn’t know how to keep our conversation in English and hold it last twenty minutes. But above all these, we were just thinking too much. We did this homework in Susan’s class. We did some crazy things like someone said one, two, three, and then all the member stood up. Also, we talked about what Susan’s class was doing and we used some “text speaking”. For example, up to you(up to U). Maybe there were some mistakes in grammar in our conversations, but we thought we really did a good job and had fun in this homework. It was a really special experience.

As fate would have it, his one friend, Gloria, happens to be the best singer around. Mumble and Gloria have a connection from the moment they hatch, but she struggles with his strange “hippity- hoppity” ways. Mumble is just too different--especially for Noah the Elder, the stern leader of Emperor Land, who ultimately casts him out of the community. Away from home for the first time, Mumble meets a posse of decidedly un-Emperor-like penguins--the Adelie Amigos. Led by Ramon, the Adelies instantly embrace Mumble’s cool dance moves and invite him to party with them. In Adelie Land, Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru, a crazy-feathered Rockhopper penguin who will answer any of life’s questions for the price of a pebble. 雖然波波的媽媽諾瑪珍（由妮可基嫚配音），認為兒子的小習慣還滿可愛的，但是他的爸爸曼菲斯（由休傑克曼配音）就說這樣「根本就不像企鵝嘛！」，況且，他們夫妻倆都心裡有數，要是連一首心靈之歌也沒有的話，波波可能永遠找不到他的真愛。

命運可真是愛捉弄人啊！波波心中最喜歡的母企鵝葛莉亞（由布蘭妮墨非配音），碰巧是全國最會唱歌的年輕企鵝，她的追求者眾多，唱不出歌的波波在她的面前只能自慚形穢。不過，從剛孵化出來的那一刻開始，波波和葛莉亞就互相關心了，可是她經常要耐著性子接受他特有的詭異舞步。

波波實在是太與眾不同了，尤其在長老諾哈（由雨果威明配音）的眼中更是怪異無比，他是帝王企鵝村中冷酷的領袖，最後終於還是決議將波波逐出帝王企鵝的村莊了。

從未離鄉背井的波波，遇上了一群和帝王企鵝截然不同的小個子企鵝──阿德利企鵝，牠們是一群自稱2266喜歡瘋狂與冒險的死黨。阿德利企鵝的頭兒是拉蒙（由羅賓威廉斯配音），他們一看到波波的酷炫舞步就為之瘋狂，馬上邀請他加入他們的團體，並參加派對一起狂歡。

但是在歡樂的背後，波波心中總有個疑惑，漁獲量減少難道真的是他造成的？他擅長踢踏舞的雙腳是否真的會招來不幸？偶爾出現在海平面上的大型鐵殼船，那到底是什麼？有些鳥說這些是”外星人”的交通工具，他們野蠻，對待動物的手段毫不文明！於是波波決定查明真相，他要知道是什麼樣的生物帶走了大量的魚群，危害了他的族群。

於是勇敢的波波死命地追逐著鐵殼船，他一路吶喊著要求人類將食物還給企鵝，他奮力游到溫暖的海域，到了人類的世界，不料卻進了動物園。隔著玻璃又語言不通的波波與人類，終究還是無法溝通，但是波波的踢踏舞，竟然引起人類對這支企鵝族群的好奇。

IOC chief urges China to stay focused URL

BEIJING (AP) — IOC president Jacques Rogge urged China to stay on track in its preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Prime Minister Wen Jiabao reassured Rogge of the Chinese government's support for the Olympics at a meeting on Wednesday.

"We discussed a wide range of Games-related topics and talked about sport in general," Rogge said. "I was particularly heartened by the support and the commitment of the Chinese Government for the 2008 Games, which I expect to be of the highest quality thanks to this support and to the dedication of the leadership ... and the enthusiasm of the Chinese people."

Rogge's visit was part of an inspection by the IOC's coordination commission, which monitors host city preparations. He praised China for its preparations so far, but urged local organizers to keep focused and avoid problems in the next two years.

"It is extremely important not to take your eye off the ball, because it is often in the moments when you lose your focus that mistakes can creep in," Rogge said earlier this week.

Rogge did not specify areas of concern, but civic groups and Beijing residents complain that the city's Olympic construction binge has exacerbated already severe air pollution and accelerated the razing of historic neighborhoods.

Media groups have voiced concern that Beijing won't allow unfettered access for journalists during the event, and human rights groups say they fear a crackdown on dissidents.
